In spirit of National Family Caregivers Month, we continue to honor outstanding caregivers. Last week we recognized Wendy Clarke for her exceptional care of Alzheimer’s patients. This week we recognize Michelle Taylor nominated by David Axtman, Owner of Home Care Assistance in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Have you ever met someone who seemingly, didn’t have an angry bone in their body? Well, that is Michelle Taylor. She continually goes above and beyond the call of duty, not only for her clients, but for all co-workers within the agency. Michelle is always ready and willing to do the little things. Whether it be a thank you card to a fellow worker, or going that extra mile and following up with clients to ensure all their needs are met. She positively impacts the people around her daily.
Michelle always brings an amazing energy to everyone she assists. She helps them to reconnect with things that they enjoyed in the past and helps create a new joy as they start to get back into these activities. Michelle makes her clients interests her own. With one of her clients she makes sure they are able to watch their favorite show. She turns this very small and simple task into a large and greatly appreciated act by actively engaging and showing interest in the show. This is a trend with Michelle, because it seems that she brightens the day of anyone and everyone she comes in contact with. Her ability to anticipate and respond to clients is difficult to teach. I’m sure she doesn’t realize the impact her small, thoughtful deeds, interest in clients’ activities, and great energy have on people’s everyday life.
Because of Michelle’s stand out personality and amazing energy, she is the most requested caregiver they’ve ever had at Home Care Assistance of South Dakota. Michelle can be placed with any client in any situation with no hesitation.
